Funding
Current guidance for ASDAN centres (September 2010), subject to changes implemented by Government.
Funding for ASDAN programmes and qualifications is dependant on the age of the learner and the type of institution. There are a number of broad categories:
School funding is provided by Central Government and through Local Authorities. ASDAN programmes and qualifications are funded as they contribute to the achievement of a range of school and National Curriculum objectives. Follow this link for further details about school funding: http://www.education.gov.uk
Qualifications approval for funding: under Section 96 of the Learning and Skills Act 2000, schools, institutions and employers in England can offer under 19-year-olds a course leading to an external qualification. This would be funded either by a local authority or Young People’s Learning Agency (YPLA) formerly Learning and Skills Council (LSC), as long as the qualification is approved. This section lists qualifications the Secretary of State has approved for pupils in maintained schools, and for under 19-year-olds in further and work-based education and training. Section 97 list qualifications approved for use Post 19.
These are the ASDAN qualifications that are approved and listed, along with their QAN/LAD codes:
ASDAN Programmes and Short Courses can also be funded as they provide a curriculum framework for teaching and learning a wide range of personal development, skills development and enrichment activities. They are funded because they also provide a curriculum approach for a number of ASDAN qualifications, which in turn provide the targeted outcomes for the funding. Here is a list of programmes (with LAD codes) and the qualifications they lead to:

Post-16 Funding is a complex area, formerly allocated by the Learning and Skills Agency, now the responsibility of the Young People’s Learning Agency (YPLA) and the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) for post-19:
