Level 3 Qualifications

ASDAN Level 3 Qualifications can support Post-16 learners in developing skills for learning, employment and life:

The Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE) focuses on the development of six core skills through activity-based learning. At Level 3, it attracts 70 UCAS points, more than an A at AS level.

The Award of Personal Effectiveness (AoPE) is essentially a shorter version of CoPE at Level 3. With a choice of skills-based assessment units available, AoPE can be incredibly flexible. It is suitable for learners entering HE and employment.  

To achieve Wider Key Skills qualifications, students plan, do and review activities to demonstrate the skills of Working With Others, Improving Own Learning and Performance, and Problem Solving. Each skill attracts 20 UCAS points.

The Community Volunteering Qualifications (CVQ) are unit-based and available as an Award (from 80 hours) or a Certificate (from 130 hours). These qualifications can help to recruit, retain and recognise volunteers. The Award attracts 30 UCAS points and the Certificate attracts 50 UCAS points.

The Employability Qualifications can be used to accredit work-related learning and skills. They are unit-based and available as an Award (from 80 hours) or a Certificate (from 130 hours).

These Level 3 Qualifications can help post-16 providers meet the needs of all their students, in light of:

• Significant reduction to entitlement
• Funding limiting the breadth of studies
• Alignment of funding for all post-16 providers
• Increased fees in Higher Education
• Increased entry requirements
• Reduced employment opportunities for school leavers
• Increased profile of apprenticeships
