Units and Credits
PSD units are approved within the QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework) and are each allocated a credit rating (1 credit is approximately 10 hours of learning). Qualifications are available as Certificates or Awards according to the number of credits achieved, and with a choice of assessment units available at three levels:
| Entry 3 Certificate | 13 credits |
| Entry 3 Award | 6 credits |
| Entry 2 Certificate | 13 credits |
| Entry 2 Award | 6 credits |
| Entry 1 Certificate | 13 credits |
| Entry 1 Award | 6 credits |
By building up a Portfolio of Evidence as they complete the various challenges and activities, candidates develop their knowledge, skills and abilities within the areas of personal and social development and provide evidence of meeting the Assessment Units.
Assessment process:
1. Internal assessment and moderation
2. Candidate names submitted to ASDAN
3. ASDAN sample the submission
4. External postal moderation
Standards with Guidance
The PSD Standards with Guidance booklet is provided to all centres registered with ASDAN to deliver PSD. To see the content of the units, please download the standards for PSD at Entry 1-3. Please note that centres registering to deliver PSD will receive a printed copy of the Standards with Guidance, which provides key information on how to interpret and implement the standards. Download sample units from the PSD Standards with Guidance.
Credit transfer to Diploma in Life Skills
Candidates who have completed the PSD qualification at Entry 1, 2 or 3 may use credits from corresponding units towards the Diplomas in Life Skills. Download this information sheet to find out more about how this works.
