ASDAN in Northern Ireland
ASDAN is approved as an awarding body by CCEA (Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment) (www.ccea.org.uk).
ASDAN has been operating in Ireland for several years and has developed significantly since 2003 with a number of new developments including the introduction of the CoPE qualification, a new pilot programme in partnership with Riding for the Disabled and increasing interest from schools and organisations in the Republic of Ireland.
ASDAN courses are suitable for students in a wide range of settings and address the needs of individuals with learning difficulties; provide informal education options; offer literacy and numeracy resources; and qualifications which are recognised by CCEA and Ofqual. In Northern Ireland, ASDAN centres include special schools, mainstream schools in all sectors, further education colleges, Health and Social Services Trusts, training organisations and voluntary sector organisations providing independent living and personal development programmes.
