Dear Colleagues,
As the National Manager for ASDAN in Scotland, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Scotland section of the ASDAN website.
I hope that this section will provide you with useful information. We are very keen to recognise the achievement of students in Scotland, so if you have any stories you would like the ASDAN world to know about, then your contributions would be most welcome. Please send anything you think might make an interesting article (including photos) to Debra Richards.
I wish you every success in delivering ASDAN awards and qualifications. We believe ASDAN offers a range of products and a level of customer service that will enable you to more successfully recognise achievement and reward success. We are here to support you.
With very best wishes
Heather Aitken

ASDAN in the Curriculum for Excellence
Curriculum for Excellence aims to achieve a transformation in education in Scotland by providing a coherent, more flexible and enriched curriculum from ages 3 to 18. The purpose of Curriculum for Excellence is encapsulated in the four capacities, which ASDAN awards and qualifications embrace.
We have mapped our main ASDAN Awards to the Second, Third and Fourth Stages to provide schools with clear guidance about how ASDAN activities/awards can provide tools to evidence approximately 80% of the curriculum. We have also produced tables to show how ASDAN Awards can be used to evidence the ‘responsibility for all’ and we have mapped the eight curricular areas.
The Practitioner’s Guide to ASDAN in the Curriculum for Excellence has been produced to fit into the experiences and outcomes folders that all teachers now have. It is available to browse and purchase here.
St Columba's pupils help launch Football Short Course
ASDAN's Football Short Course was launched at Watford Football Club with the assistance of pupils from St Columba's School in Greenock. The school was represented at the event by Reegan Kelly, Sophie Gallacher and their teacher, Alistair Witherow, who told delegates about a book they have produced that tells the history of Greenock Morton FC and the social history of the town.
