Preparatory Programmes Workshops
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for school/college tutors, training/care providers and other educators working with learners at Pre-Entry, below National Curriculum Level 1 (P Levels 1-8).
What are the Preparatory Programmes?
- New Horizons is an activity-based curriculum resource that has been written to support the delivery of PSHE, Citizenship & Careers/Work-related education for learners working across P Levels & achieving lower levels of the National Curriculum in Key Stages 2 and 3, or an older cohort if appropriate.
- Transition Challenge provides a framework for developing and accrediting independent living and personal skills of young people aged 14-16 (can be used 16+) through areas of activity relating to statutory programmes of study for Key Stage 4 National Curriculum subjects, complemented by activities which develop skills necessary for adult life.
- Towards Independence is aimed at Post-16 students and features modules on Creative and Cultural Studies, Independent Living, Sport and Leisure, Citizenship/PSHE and Work Related Skills.
- Workright helps learners from Pre-Entry to Entry 3 who are following a work-based/work experience programme of study to develop a range of basic transferable employability skills.
Workshop structure and objectives
This workshop will give you all the information you need to introduce and develop the appropriate programme in your establishment. Practical details and case study examples will be provided by experienced teachers and lecturers who are involved with ASDAN on a day-to-day basis. Places will be limited to keep groups to a productive size.
These very successful programmes are designed to provide a context for the accreditation of young people and adults who have learning difficulties (moderate, severe and/or profound learning difficulties) and a framework of activities through which personal, social, and independent skills can be developed and accredited. They are eligible for LSC funding.
Please note that Literacy and Numeracy in Everyday Life will be covered during the lunch break for those who are interested.
