Have your say

As you will know, Education Ministers are keen to emphasise the academic core for young people and, following the Wolf Report, have asked the Department for Education to revise the use of performance measures to encourage this.

While not detracting from this, ASDAN is keen to ensure that young people continue to experience a breadth of learning, and that this is valued. We have therefore responded to consultations, and to Mr Gove himself, expressing that skills for learning, skills for employability and skills for life - offered in PSHE programmes of study and in qualifications such as Personal and Social Development, Personal Effectiveness, Employability and Life Skills - should be recognised as an essential part of the curriculum.

We would urge you to support the notion of a broader view of education and school effectiveness by writing to ministers to express the value of these areas of the curriculum and the programmes that have helped your learners achieve success.
