The ASDAN International Award accredits up to 60 hours of activity in the international arena: language study; foreign travel; international links; exchange programmes; work experience abroad; European studies; and global citizenship. It is a flexible, multi-level Award that can be undertaken by students aged 11-19 years.

The Award provides a standalone certificate of achievement undertaken both inside and outside formal education. It also offers progression into nationally recognised Awards and Qualifications.

How does the short course fit into the UK Qualifications framework?

Credits from the programme can count as up to half of the curriculum requirements of the ASDAN Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE), which has GCSE equivalence at Levels 1 and 2, and is worth an AS Level at Level 3.

How to achieve the Award

Students present a portfolio of evidence of their International activities. This portfolio will contain:

  • evidence of 'challenges' completed
  • planning and reviewing documents
  • completed record of progress
  • summary of achievement identifying skills development

After successful moderation, centres submit a list of candidates' names via the secure area of the website and certificates are issued by ASDAN.
