Prince's Trust xl Awards

About 1,000 xl clubs across the UK help young people aged 14-16 who are facing difficulties at school, including those at risk of exclusion. Club members work towards The Prince’s Trust xl Award, which is accredited by ASDAN and offers links to Wider Key Skills and other ASDAN Awards and Qualifications.

Progression To Qualifications

As you may already be aware ASDAN and the Prince’s Trust are exploring ways in which we can extend the qualification outcomes from the xl programme. ASDAN has always been keen to ensure young people get the very best outcomes available to them from the course, and that schools and centres are offered the most cost effective accreditation solutions available. We are very pleased to be working in tandem with the Prince’s Trust in this process.

The very good news is that QCDA has extended approval for the Wider Key Skills until 2013. This means that xl students have a number of accreditation opportunities available to them. All young people achieving xl Bronze can count the award as half of the requirements for a GCSE equivalent qualification – ASDAN’s Certificate of Personal Effectiveness - at either level 1 or level 2. At the same time students can choose to progress onto the Silver and Gold xl awards and pursue the Wider Key Skills qualifications, all three of which total the equivalent of 2 and ¼  GCSEs.

For more information about either of these qualifications please see our training and events or qualifications pages, or contact Tim Leaman on 0117 954 3975.
