Young people from Hexham Youth Initiative have used the FoodWise Short Course to produce their own cookbook of affordable family meals.

The book was produced in response to the Money for Life Challenge, a national competition which provides grants for 16 to 24-year-olds to run a project to improve money management skills in their communities.

Karren Spowart, the centre's ASDAN co-ordinator, said: “Cooking is an important life skill and something that we focus on, along with how to handle their money. It’s about preparing them to look after themselves when they leave home.”
