Congratulations to Belmont Special School, Cheltenham and Oakfield High School, Wigan – two ASDAN centres that have been shortlisted for the 2015 Pupil Premium Awards in the special schools and alternative provision category.

This announcement highlights good practice in helping disadvantaged learners to succeed, which is one of the key features of ASDAN methodology. Explore more detailed analysis of how ASDAN can support achievement and improve attainment.

The pupil premium is extra funding schools receive for every disadvantaged pupil they teach. Schools Minister David Laws said: "These schools demonstrate just what can be done with the pupil premium to enable every child to fulfil their potential, no matter what their background.

"These schools and their staff should rightly be proud of this achievement and I wish them the best of luck for the awards ceremony next year. I would encourage other special schools and alternative provision to learn from this excellent practice and ensure they are using their pupil premium effectively."
