Online version of Key Steps will help engage learners

ASDAN has launched an innovative e-portfolio system for its popular Key Steps course.

The system, which can be accessed by registered centres via the members area of the ASDAN website, will enhance flexibility for learners, enabling them to upload evidence and work from any location that has internet access.

It also allows tutors to check learner progress more quickly and efficiently by storing recording documents and learner evidence on a secure platform.

Key Steps is a PSHE and citizenship programme for ages 10-14, which can be used in schools, youth or training centres and alternative education.

The system has been developed following extensive updates to the Key Steps curriculum in January 2016. As part of the updating process, ASDAN contacted selected Key Steps centres for their feedback on how we could make the programme more relevant and accessible to their learners – 75% of the centres we spoke with said that they would like an online version of the programme.

Simon Lawrence, Development Co-ordinator, said: “The new system is an example of how ASDAN is responding to the needs of our customers and expanding its digital offer.

“The online version of Key Steps will help engage learners by enabling them to work digitally as well as helping them develop their computer skills.

“This new digital product follows the creation of other ASDAN online services such as Short Courses Online, which provides more than 35 engaging, activity-based programmes. We recognise the value of investing in cutting edge digital learning services and we are continuing to explore new online methods to promote ASDAN’s unique pedagogy.”
