Impact magazine contains inspiring stories on ASDAN courses
ASDAN is delighted to launch its new impact magazine, which is full of inspiring stories showcasing the benefits of our courses.
The success stories describe how centres are helping learners develop personal, social and work-related skills, boosting their confidence and self-esteem.
The magazine also includes key statistics on our performance and finances for 2017–2018.
Recognising and rewarding achievement
One of the stories relates to ASDAN’s Lifeskills Challenge, a flexible curriculum programme that delivers personalised learning for young people with special educational needs and disabilities and those with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
On page 17, a special school in Surrey describes how Lifeskills Challenge contributed towards the centre’s outstanding Ofsted rating, having been highlighted by inspectors for providing ‘rigorous assessment and celebrating the skills and knowledge gained by learners’.
Supporting transition to secondary school
Making a confident start at secondary school is important to support young people’s progression. On page 13, we feature a case study on Lift Off, our primary to secondary school transition programme. The course has been a big hit with students at a secondary school in Cambridgeshire, helping them adopt a pro-active approach to learning in Year 7.
Boosting learners’ personal effectiveness
Students need core skills, as well as confidence and self-esteem, in order to reach their potential. On pages six and seven, we feature an article from a secondary school in Cumbria where ASDAN’s Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE) qualification has been complementing academic learning, helping students become ‘rounded and grounded’ and develop important life skills.
