Booking moderation for qualifications candidates

To request a moderation within this academic year, please submit before 31 October 2023.

This relates to:

  • Award and Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (AoPE/CoPE)*
  • Employability
  • Personal and Social Development
  • Personal and Social Effectiveness
  • Personal Progress

Late fees will apply after this date (please see below).

Booking moderation

Before starting a qualification, you must purchase the required candidate registrations and register the learners undertaking the course.

You can do this on the cohorts page of the website and creating a new cohort.

Once you have created the cohort, you can visit the moderations page. Here you can book a new moderation for your centre and manage your existing moderations. If you would like some more information on the moderation process, please view our moderations guidance document.

Our Centre Support team will confirm your booking as quickly as possible. We are processing a lot of enquiries, so we appreciate your patience.

Please assign learners and confirm units a minimum of four weeks before the booked moderation date.

Managing learners and units:

You must enter learner details and units four weeks before your moderation date.

  1. Visit the cohort page within the members area
  2. Use the manage learners tab to view and edit learner details. When editing learner details this will appear in a new tab. You can also view their previous ASDAN achievements.
  3. Use the manage units tab to track what your learners are working towards and their completed units/modules.
  4. Click Add a unit, and you can use the copy icon to copy a unit to all learners and the remove icon to remove units.
  5. You must add all completed units to this page before adding your learners and units to a booked moderation.
  6. Use the Upcoming moderations tab to update your learner progress.
  7. You can book a moderation or add this cohort to an existing moderation on the moderations page.

All learners linked to a moderation should have their units confirmed and assigned after all units have been assessed and internally moderated.

After the deadline, we will email requesting the portfolios you need to post to your External Quality Assurer (EQA) for external moderation. We will then provide an address to send sample portfolios.

To ensure your learners will be moderated on a specific date, please register one cohort and moderation date per qualification.

Multiple levels and sizes of achievement can be linked to one qualification moderation. For example, the Employability qualifications have eight different options from Entry Level 2 to Level 2 with Awards and Certificates.

There could be different levels and sizes of outcomes in one moderation for Employability learners. All learners linked to the moderation should have their units confirmed and assigned four weeks before moderation, after all units have been assessed and internally moderated.

Moderation process

External moderation can be requested for any date and will be carried out by post. Moderation must be requested at least five weeks before your preferred moderation date.

Student book for AoPE and CoPE

Members registering candidates for the Award and Certificate of Personal Effectiveness will need to book their moderation as above in order to receive the mandatory student books.

Avoiding late fees

Please book your moderation by 31 October 2023 to avoid late fees.

  • If you book moderation after 31 October 2023 but before 1 January 2024, your centre will be charged the candidate fee, plus a £5 late fee per candidate.
  • If you book moderation after 1 January 2024, your centre will be charged the candidate fee, plus a £10 late fee per candidate.
