The learner can:

  • Research how the 3D printer works and identify key features, safety requirements, and common terminology
  • Produce a clear and accessible session plan outlining objectives, timeframes, and the resources required
  • Describe the essential functions of a 3D printer and explain how to prepare a 3D file for printing


  • Demonstrate safe operation of a 3D printer, including start-up, filament loading, file preparation and print monitoring
  • Produce at least one example model to use as a teaching resource
  • Identify potential hazards and explain how to minimise risks for beginners
