  • 3 .   Communicate information so that its meaning is clear.
  • 4 .   Be able to take part in an exchange by asking straightforward questions and giving clear answers when asked.

Assessment criteria

(What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome)

The learner can:

  • Listen to a short explanation for up to two minutes
  • Identify two key pieces of information from the explanation
  • Answer a question about the explanation, giving a more detailed response aiming for 10 -20 words
  • Speak loudly and clearly enough for a listener to understand what they are saying
  • Make two relevant contributions to the topic being discussed
  • Describe something they are interested in by talking for one minute about it, using prompts they have prepared e.g. Power point, notes or images if helpful
  • Answer simple questions related to the topic they have chosen
  • Ask relevant and appropriate questions in at least two different contexts e.g. in a social situation, in a café, in a shop
  • Respond to direct questioning in at least two different contexts e.g. social setting, café and kitchen
  • Answer a question clearly giving some details aiming for 10 - 20 words
