Assessment criteria

The learner can:
- Test an electric bike statically to ensure gears, brakes, and motor system function correctly
- Carry out a controlled ride test to ensure the electric bike is working safely and effectively
- Label the main parts of a bicycle and key electric conversion components (e.g. motor, battery, controller, wiring) and be able to describe their function
- Follow a checklist to identify if each key component (mechanical and electrical) is functioning correctly
- Carry out safety checks from a checklist on a bicycle and on an e-bike system
- Select the appropriate piece of equipment to perform a repair, adjustment, or basic conversion task such as fitting a battery, connecting wiring, inflating tyres, or lubricating the chain
