Assessment criteria

The learner can:
- Observe a session run by a swimming teacher
- Make notes about what was observed
- Make notes about the structure of the lesson
- Make notes about the use of language in the session
- Look at proformas for risk assessments and understand what they are used for and how they apply to teaching in sport and fitness
- Complete a proforma as a group for a swimming lesson in a familiar pool
- Discuss the proforma with an adult and act on any feedback
- Discuss as a group how sessions would differ for students at different ages and stages
- Use a given age and stage to plan a starter for a swimming session, acting upon feedback given by a teacher
- Continue to plan the rest of the session reflecting on any feedback given in the previous stage
- Discuss the plans with the group
