  • Select and share an emotion using a feelings board, symbols, photographs or emotion cards
  • Respond to simple questions such as: How are you today?" What did you do last night?" -"What are you looking forward to today?"

  • Share a piece of personal news (e.g. something they did at home, a recent event or an upcoming activity)
  • Participate in a "show and tell" style activity by sharing an item, photograph or experience with the group
  • Respond to a verbal greeting from a familiar adult or peer
  • Make eye contact, smile, wave or acknowledge a greeting in a preferred way
  • Use speech, signing, symbols, gestures or a communication aid to say "hello", "good morning" or another appropriate greeting
