. Use a spirit level to check if tiles are straight. -

. Recognise basic tiling tools and materials (e.g. tiles, spacers, adhesive, spirit level). -

. Prepare an area for tiling (e.g. cleaning surface, organising materials).

The learner can:
- Follow a simple number or colour sequence to place tiles
- Apply a base row of tiles using spacers
- Add further tiles to continue a simple pattern or sequence
- Follow instructions to use a spirit level
- Check whether tiles are level (horizontal)
- Respond to prompts to adjust tiles for alignment
- Identify basic tiling tools (e.g. spacers, spirit level)
- Identify materials used in tiling (e.g. tiles, adhesive)
- Match tools to their basic use
- Take part in preparing a work area (e.g. clearing, cleaning surface)
- Gather and organise tools/materials with guidance
