The learner can:
- Identify and select an appropriate area for a concreting task
- Prepare the work area by removing obstacles and ensuring the surface is suitable
- Measure the area and estimate the quantity of concrete required
- Measure the area and estimate the quantity of concrete required
- Protect surrounding surfaces and features that should not come into contact with concrete (e.g. drains, pathways, structures)
- Identify the materials required to produce concrete.
- Describe the purpose of sand, cement, aggregate and water within a concrete mix.
- Select an appropriate concrete mix ratio for a given task
- Measure materials accurately using appropriate equipment.
- Mix concrete to achieve a suitable consistency for the intended task.
