Assessment criteria
(What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome)
The learner can:
- Select an appropriate shape and space for building
- Create a simple brick pattern design (e.g. stretcher bond, alternating pattern)
- Explain the choice of pattern and layout using simple reasoning
- Produce a clear plan or visual (sketch/template) to guide construction
- Lay a base row of bricks accurately following a plan
- Lay a second row with the correct offset (e.g. stretcher bond)
- Continue building additional rows, maintaining a consistent pattern
- Demonstrate control, spacing, and alignment during construction
