Pauline becomes first international ASDAN Champion

At ASDAN, we are always proud to celebrate learners who grow in confidence, develop essential life skills and take meaningful steps towards their futures. Through our ASDAN Champions initiative, we highlight learners whose journeys show the impact of applied, skills-based learning.

We are especially delighted to introduce Pauline, our very first international ASDAN Champion, who is studying in Qatar.

Meet Pauline, our latest ASDAN Champion

Pauline has successfully achieved both the International Bronze and Silver Awards, demonstrating excellent commitment throughout her ASDAN journey.

Her programme coordinator, Hassan Mohammed, described her as a polite, hardworking and dedicated learner who has made significant progress in developing her communication and interpersonal skills.

Developing skills through work experience

As part of her ASDAN experience, Pauline completed a two-week work experience placement as a teacher assistant for the younger age group at her school.

During the placement, Pauline supported the classroom teacher in preparing learning activities and classroom materials. She helped organise the classroom environment, assisted with decorating displays and arranged students’ work neatly around the classroom.

Pauline also worked closely with younger learners, guiding them during activities, helping them complete tasks and encouraging them to participate confidently in lessons. She demonstrated patience, kindness and responsibility throughout, creating positive relationships with both the students and staff.

Building confidence for the future

Through her work experience, Pauline developed valuable communication, teamwork and independent working skills. Interacting daily with teachers, classroom assistants and younger learners helped her become more confident when speaking with others and supporting classroom activities.

The placement also strengthened her interpersonal and social skills, allowing her to build positive relationships and work effectively as part of a team. By supporting younger students, Pauline further developed her patience, empathy and understanding when working with children.

In addition, Pauline improved her organisational and problem-solving skills while preparing classroom materials and assisting with classroom routines. Overall, the experience helped her become more responsible, confident and professional within a real working environment.

As our first international ASDAN Champion, Pauline’s story highlights how ASDAN programmes are supporting learners across the world to develop confidence, and valuable skills for life.
