ASDAN goes digital: introducing Equitas, our new digital learning platform

Over recent months, many of you will have heard about Equitas – ASDAN’s new digital learning platform designed to make delivering learning programmes and qualifications more flexible, efficient, and engaging. Now that the platform is officially live, we’re delighted to share an overview of what’s available and what’s coming next.

Plan, do, review

Equitas brings ASDAN’s distinctive plan, do, review approach to life online:

  • Plan: educators can select challenges, units or modules to create bespoke learning pathways, while learners can explore tasks independently. Each activity links to specific skills that can be adapted to suit learner needs, with clear guidance on how each skill can be demonstrated and evidenced.

  • Do: educators can monitor progress at a glance, tracking planned and completed tasks and reviewing learner submissions. Learners can plan activities, upload evidence, complete skills sheets online, or work offline using downloadable PDFs or PowerPoints. All completed work is captured in a visual progression diagram, giving an immediate overview of achievement.

  • Review: activities and skills can be reviewed directly on the platform, supporting meaningful reflection between learners and educators. Internal quality assurance can also be completed digitally, reducing administrative workload.

Equitas also includes accessibility tools such as adjustable fonts and the option to hide images, supporting learners with diverse needs. A short demonstration video showcases these features:

Short Courses at launch and beyond

Equitas launches with eleven updated Short Courses:

These courses have been developed with subject specialists and experienced educators to ensure content is practical, engaging, and aligned with contemporary learning needs. Key collaborators include:

  • Esports: James Fraser-Murison (Fraser Esports Ltd)

  • Science: Leila Walker (University of the West of England)

While Short Courses form the initial launch offering, Equitas is designed to house ASDAN’s full suite of programmes and qualifications, with courses to be added throughout 2026. This represents a major digital transformation, enabling educators to deliver the full ASDAN curriculum in a single, secure, and interactive environment.

Empowering educators and learners

Equitas provides educators with a clear, intuitive overview of learner progress while reducing administrative workload. Learners benefit from greater autonomy, engagement, and reflective opportunities - helping them build confidence and develop practical, real-world literacies.

Michael Shaw, Lead of the Equitas Product Experience Team, says: “Equitas was designed to be simple, flexible and responsive to the needs of educators and learners. Working with subject specialists and members, we’ve created a platform that supports meaningful, real-world learning while saving teachers time and effort.”

Looking ahead

As the platform grows, Equitas will integrate all of ASDAN’s courses and qualifications, creating a single, fully digital learning environment. Educators will gain streamlined access, comprehensive reporting, and tools to personalise learning, while learners enjoy a richer, more interactive experience - aligned with ASDAN’s mission to engage, elevate, and empower learners with diverse needs.
