Project Qualifications
About this course
What are Project Qualifications?
ASDAN’s Project Qualifications provide a progressive project-based learning pathway from Level 1 to Level 3. They help learners apply knowledge, explore topics that matter to them and develop confidence and independence through meaningful projects.
The suite includes ASDAN’s existing EPQ and, from September 2026, the new FPQ and HPQ:
- ASDAN Level 1 Foundation Project Qualification (FPQ)
- ASDAN Level 2 Higher Project Qualification (HPQ)
- ASDAN Level 3 Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
Together, they create a clear and flexible progression pathway, enabling learners to build knowledge, transferable skills and confidence at a level appropriate to them.
Project Qualifications help learners develop research, critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, communication, project management and presentation skills. By placing learner choice and real-world relevance at the centre, they support engagement and help learners turn ideas into action.
Practical learning, real impact
Project-based learning gives learners opportunities to apply knowledge, think critically and develop transferable skills through topics that are meaningful to them. Discover how ASDAN’s Project Qualifications can strengthen engagement and prepare learners for further study, training and employment.
Explore the benefits of project-based learningProject Qualifications are typically designed for learners aged 14 to 18 across a wide range of settings, including:
- secondary schools
- further education
- alternative provision and EOTAS
- training providers and community settings
They complement academic, vocational and creative programmes of study and support progression to further study, training or employment.
Learners complete a single project based on a topic of their choice. This includes:
- identifying and refining a project idea
- planning and managing their work
- carrying out research and considering information and sources critically
- creating a final piece of work
- presenting and evaluating their project
Projects are internally assessed and moderated, with external moderation by ASDAN. Assessment recognises the project process as well as the final outcome.
